Pet Stain And Odor Remover: Tips For Cleaning Bird Cages

Posted by Absolutely Clean® on

Adopting a pet bird can be a truly joyful experience. Although dogs and cats are extremely popular pets, many people choose adopting a pet bird for different reasons. Unlike four-legged pets, birds do not require much food, so your monthly pet expenses will be much lower. Despite common misconceptions, birds are actually very intelligent animals, which makes them easy to train. Additionally, birds are very sociable animals who form strong bonds with the people they love. If you adopt a pet bird, you will need to regularly clean their cages. Here are some helpful tips for cleaning birds’ cages:

Daily Cleaning

You will need to clean your bird’s cage daily in order to minimize your bird’s risk of infection. Birds are vulnerable to health problems, so it’s important that you clean their cages every day.

Change The Liner

Change out the papers lining the bird cage every day so that your bird is not walking around in food and droppings. If you don’t change these papers, they will quickly develop an unpleasant odor.

Clean Food And Water Dishes

In order to reduce the growth of harmful bacteria in your bird’s food and water bowls, remove the dishes and clean them. Simply wash the dishes out with mild dish soap and water and dry them completely. Once the dishes are dry, you can place them back into the cage.

Wipe Down Surfaces

Spray the surface of the cage with Absolutely Clean Bird Cage Cleaner and Deodorizer®.This gentle enzymatic cleaner will effectively remove any messes from the cage. Make sure to clean all of the surfaces inside of the cage, including bars and perches.

Weekly Cleaning

Clean The Cage Tray

Spray some Absolutely Clean onto the cage tray and wipe with a rag. Make sure that the tray is dry before putting liners on top of it.

Remove and Scrub The Grate

If your bird cage has a grate at the bottom, take the grate out and spray it with Absolutely Clean®. Wipe it with a rag or a scrub brush and return it to the cage after it is dry.

Clean and Rotate Toys

Birds love to play with their toys, which quickly become dirty. Each week, make sure to remove the toys from the cage and soak them. After soaking, you want to give them a nice scrub to remove any nastiness.

Monthly Cleaning

Scrub That Cage

Spray some Absolutely Clean® onto the cage, let it sit for a few minutes, and then scrub it down with a sturdy scrub brush. Make sure to scrub into any cracks or crevices in the base of the cage.

Whether you are doing your monthly, weekly, or daily cleaning activities, always make sure that the cage and all of its parts are completely dry. Wet birds experience chills, so keep your beloved pet warm and dry. Absolutely Clean Bird Cage Cleaner and Deodorizer is a non-toxic cleaning product.
